Triangle Acting Classes

Adult Scene Study

Tuesday/ Thursday.  July 10-August 2. 6-9pm
Age Level: Heather@heathersnowclark.com
Experience Level: Beginning, Intermediate

Utilizing the basic principles of actor preparation taught by Sanford Meisner, this class will focus on developing an acting process that will allow the actor to feel confident in their creation of a role onstage or in film; a process that is specific, emotionally honest and based on careful analysis of the text.

This class will teach students a process that will serve their own needs as actors, in addition to those of the director, playwright and audience.  This development of an acting process will be accomplished through the pursuit of several supporting objectives:

Demonstrate an understanding of content and responsiveness to given circumstances of the text.
Be able to pursue objectives with an awareness of obstacles and create conflict.
Be able to play an action through relationship and affect someone else.
Be able to work from moment to moment through a scene with clarity, specificity, and appropriate stakes and emotional connection.
Each student will be required to keep an acting journal.  This journal will contain:

Scored Script- including beat markings, inner and outer environment work, character analysis, columns for scene objectives- immediate objective, action, and any personal notes.
Rehearsal Log- includes notes on rehearsals inside and outside of class, insights, problems, and questions about your scene work.
Notes- This will be your place to take notes on information given in class, notes from your own reading on acting, notes on theatre productions you have seen, etc.
As always, we will work from the definition of acting as “the reality of living (doing) truthfully under imaginary circumstances.” -Sanford Meisner

Unrehearsed Shakespeare: Weekend Intensive

Saturday/ Sunday, July 7th & 8th from Noon-5pm
Age Level: 16- adult
Experience Level: Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced

Unrehearsed Shakespeare is a performance technique that replicates the conditions under which Shakespeare’s company worked.  Just like the actors in Shakespeare’s company, students will receive cue scripts for the roles they work on in class.  Cue scripts contain only an actor’s lines and cues.  Students will learn how to excavate and theatricalize the acting clues in their cue scripts.  Remember, unrehearsed is NOT unprepared.  This class will teach you how to analyze a Shakespearean text for performance.

For anyone who has always been intrigued by Shakespeare, but too intimidated to perform in public, this class is for you.

Shakespeare was a brilliant writer.  In his words is everything an actor needs to know to play any Shakespearean character effectively.

Age Level: 15 and up
Experience Level: Beginning, Intermediate

Whether you want to learn a new “party trick” to wow your friends, or a new skill to add to your resume, this workshop will provide you with the tools you need to take on an authentic British and Cockney dialect…in addition to learning the skills for any other dialect you wish to try.

In this three hour workshop, students will learn everything from how to prepare for an audition in dialect, what to do regarding a dialect at callbacks, what kind of script analysis to do for a dialect play, and how to adapt the dialect for the stage or film.  Students will learn all the sound changes needed in order to speak in an authentic British and Cockney dialect, as well as hone their ability to make character choices appropriate to specific texts.

The goal is to increase the actor’s awareness of the subtle variations in pitch, rhythm, intonation, inflection and speech that compose a dialect.  Then, to produce the above variations consistently with the ease and authority required in performance situations.
